At the age of 90, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Shirley Ruth, passed away August 1st, 2019, after a prolonged illness. Born to Mattie and David Feiser on November 4th, 1928, in Independence, she is survived by brother, David Feiser, and preceded in death by siblings, Mildred Francis and Stanley Feiser.

Shirley graduated from Northeast High School and subsequently attended the K.C. Conservatory of Music. She was both an accomplished pianist and vocalist, singing in the Messiah numerous times in Independence. For many years, Shirley played concert piano as a member of Birchwood Baptist Church, and continued to bring joy to others thru her music at the Groves.
She also excelled in her job as tax auditor for the state of Missouri for years.

Shirley was an active, vivacious person with a fun sense of humor and engaging smile. She was an avid gardener, tremendous cook, plus creative artist, and a very generous, giving person, who loved her family and friends very much.

She is survived by son, John Gregory Hayner, and daughter, Deborah Hayner Jennings, plus their children and grandchildren.
Greg & Christen: Daughter, Amanda DelCarlo & husband, Tom, with sons, Sammy & Bash; plus daughter, Rachael, & husband, Alex Lum.
Deborah’s children: Noah Parrish & son, Jude.
Dr. Meghan Rioth & husband, Dr. Matthew Rioth, parents of Liana, Hattie & Niels.
Dr. Adam Jennings & wife, Lauren, with sons, Jack & Beau.

We will all miss Shirley greatly, but rejoice that she is in heaven with her Lord, at peace and well. Please share your memories, stories and photos on the Speaks website.
Celebration of life gathering and service information are included there also.

We have such fond memories of Shirley from Birchwood days! She was such a witty and elegant lady and was always so kind to us.
We send our sympathy and prayers for God to comfort you and for wonderful memories to sustain you.

So many memories of times spent with Shirley - from meeting her at Waldo Avenue Baptist Church to attending Birchwood Baptist Church with her; of helping put insulation in her basement to singing in choir to going to singles conferences and so on. Her joy for life, her beautiful smile and laugh - and her musical abilities. She is so missed - we haven't spent time together for a while but she has never been out of our thoughts and prayers. One of our "crazy KC ladies" is in heaven and what a celebration must be going on there! Shirley playing the piano for the Lord! A dear, sweet friend has gone home and we miss her. Our prayers are with the family in their loss - she loves you all so much - you are her joy and pride. Love Beth Huffman & Gayle McFarlane
