Obituary

Sherman Anthony “Tony” Conn, 79. An Independence resident of 58 years, he died September 16, 2019. He passed peacefully surrounded by those who loved him and whom he loved. Services will be 3pm Friday at Bethel Baptist Church with visitation from 2pm until service time at the church. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Tony was born October 16, 1939 in Morehead Kentucky to Sherman and Mary (Wells) Conn. Tony met his wife at an early age and they were married in 1961. He retired from Ford Motor Company after 30 years of service. He enjoyed anything outdoors, including fishing, hunting, canoeing, camping, spending time with his animals, and working on cars. In his last weeks he enjoyed listening to his Bill Gather music. Tony was a quiet man, but he loved to talk about Jesus, joke with his family and make others laugh. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sandy Conn; his 3 children James Conn with wife Shelley Conn, Angie (Conn) DeGracia with husband Mario DeGracia, and Steven Conn with wife Karen Conn, his 7 grandchildren Justin DeGracia, Christa (DeGracia) Jordan with husband Lane Jordan, Zackery Conn with wife Bailey Conn, Nicole Conn, Nicholas Conn, Nikki Abbott with husband Bob Abbott, and Adam Brown with wife Michelle Brown, his 2 great granddaughters Kaden Brown and Ashlyn Abbott and his brother Sonny Conn with wife Carrie and sister Peggy Conn. His soul was full of love for the Lord and he will be missed greatly on this Earth. But the love and memories he leaves behind will resound in our hearts for all eternity. We are grateful for his love, for his devotion, and most importantly his passion to lead a Godly life. His favorite scripture was Psalm 42:1; As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. May all our souls continue his Legacy of kindness as we choose to love one another.
