The Elmer Kiehl Family has many fond memories of Bob, Elaine's dear husband. One of my (Marlene's) favorite memories goes back to the wedding of Bob and Elaine. I was about 10-12 years old when they were married. It was the first wedding of the Kiehl cousins to happen. The reception was at Elaine's parent's home at the farm - a pretty white frame house with a huge yard. We were all having a great time when there was heard a lot of banging and yelling/singing and a general commotion from around the yard. Some of the guests had come and were having a "Shivaree" (a mock serenade for the newlyweds). I thought it was such great fun to have this occur at a wedding that I hoped that maybe someone would someday organize it for my wedding! Elaine and Bob seemed to enjoy it very much as did all of the other wedding guests. For me that sort of set the stage for the marriage that I observed that Elaine and Bob had. Very loving and understanding and the ability to enjoy good times/jokes and more.

Our family as we grew attended many Grandpa Kiehl Family Christmases and summer family reunions as the years went by. We always looked forward to see if Bob was going to be there. He was always so jovial and ready for a good story (whether he listened to us or told one himself). Since Elaine was the oldest of the Kiehl grandchildren, Bob and Elaine were held in special regard by myself and I think by the other "younger cousins". We followed the lead of these "older ones" and enjoyed the good funny stories and jokes that were always traded at gatherings.

My husband, Jeff and I appreciated the Army service that Bob did in Germany. My husband and myself spent three years there in 1984-87, many years after Bob was there. We traded a few stories about the differences in the life he experienced there from the early 1960's to our time there in the mid - late 1980's.

We will certainly miss the great smile and laugh that Bob had. We really will miss having him at the future family reunions since he was such a staple at each one adding his joviality and humor each time.

With Deepest Sympathy for the Shroeder Family on the loss of Bob.
