Obituary

English
Nicole Henriette Georgette Barthélémy-Lecouturier Clark was born on March 22, 1953, in Le Havre, France, to Henriette Madeleine Emilienne Barthélémy-Lecouturier. She was the sixth of eleven children.

Nicole lived in Le Havre, France, from her birth until 2005 when she met and married Christaphor Heath Clark. According to her sister Dominique, Nicole “suffered a great deal in her childhood and her chaotic adult life was a reflection of that until her marvellous encounter with” Chris. “She always looked for and hoped to meet her soul mate and that finally happened fifteen years ago.”

Nicole and Chris were married on August 8, 2005, in Arkansas City, Kansas. She lived there with her husband until July 25, 2019, when she met an untimely death at the age of sixty-six.

Nicole was a kind, fun-loving person who was always telling fond stories about her childhood adventures with her brothers Daniel and Philippe, who were one and two years younger than her, respectively. After having moved to the United States from France, even though she could not speak English, she was able to communicate through her smile and laughter with her American family and with acquaintances. She was adored by her husband Chris whose life she filled with light, laughter, and love.

Nicole had a keen intellect and came up with the idea of a series of children’s books that she wrote with Chris. She also helped translate some of his other books from English to French. So, she can be attributed as author or translator of a total of five books. Quite an accomplishment!

But Nicole’s main contribution to life was her unconditional love. Jesus Christ was her Lord and Saviour, and her sweet, gentle nature reflected that. It is comforting to know that Nicole is now resting safely in the arms of Jesus who will wipe away all of the tears from her eyes and always keep her safe and secure in his unconditional love.

Nicole is survived by her husband Christaphor; her sisters Dominique, Micheline, Françoise, and Suzanne; her brother Jacques; her eight children: Marie-Laure Harel, Régis Harel, John Harel, Angelique Harel, Laurélia Deheulle, Candy Thérésine, Jessica Leblond, and Lindsay Leblond; as well as thirty-one grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 1st, at Speaks Buckner Chapel in Buckner, Missouri. Nicole will be buried at Buckner Hill Cemetery near the grandparents of her husband Chris.
