Julia Pearl Persson, 93, widow of Paul Gustav Persson, passed away peacefully June 11, 2019. She is survived by five children, six grand-children, and eight great grandchildren. Julia will be remembered as someone who viewed the world through the eyes of an artist. She was an accomplished seamstress, a devotee of music, she was a collector of things and dealt in the currency of information and knowledge. She was an instiller of effective communication skills, ardent admirer of the marvels of life and respectful of all of its forms. She was adamant, passionate and patient about the process of repairing things rather than temporary fixes. Julia always walked her own path and labored for her dignity to the end. The family extends thanks for the compassionate care of those supporting her final years. Julia would prefer any remembrance be expressed in donations to her favorite charities of Crossroads Hospice, the Missouri Veteran's Home in Warrensburg, MO, or someone in need in your lives. A graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 14, 2019 at the Orient Cemetery in Harrisonville, MO. (Arrangements: Speaks Suburban Chapel (816) 373-3600)

My deep, sincere condolences to Julia's family. It is somewhat magical that I discovered the news of her death so soon after her passing. It has been more than 20 years since I last saw her and Paul. My husband and I got to know them through our camera store. And when she showed us pictures of some of her daylilies and the farm we had to accept her invitation to see everything in person. What is magic to me, is that it is full on daylily time at my house. And I took a bunch of pictures today. I just spent a little time downloading them and adding them to a post to put on my facebook page. I made the title Daylily Time. And then I thought, "I would like to add to the title, Thank you Julia Persson. I should look her up." I imagined there was a pretty good chance that she was no longer on earth, knowing how few of us make it into our 90's. But I was kind of shocked when I saw that she so recently passed. And I sure am going to mention her now. My husband made many trips to the farm after that first one. We spent wonderful time with Julia and her "Shovel man" Paul. I believe we eventually ended up taking home something like 120 different daylilies that she helped us pick out. I will never be the gardener that she was. I made no "garden plan". We did work hard to follow her direction when we planted them all. And most have survived and many have survived. We lost touch with Julia and Paul when my husband was hurt in a car wreck in 2001 and we closed the store. But my heart thanks her every time I see "Princess Blue Eyes or Judy's Rose" open the first bloom each year. My garden is rag tag and not worthy of a memorial to someone as brilliant as Julia but memorial it is. Thank you Julia. Thank you Paul I know you are walking among the most amazing flowers now. I can only get one picture to post here. If anyone would like to see more of Julia's flowers living on in my yard please come find the pictures on my facebook page.
