Obituary

Eric Deon Sylvan, 23, of Grain Valley, MO went to his eternal home on Saturday, August 3, 2019. A celebration of life will be held Friday August 9, 2019 at Graceway Church located at 5460 Blue Ridge Cutoff Raytown, MO 64133. A visitation will be held from 12 – 2 PM with services beginning at 2 PM. Graveside services will immediately follow at Woodlawn Cemetery located at 701 S Noland Rd, Independence, MO 64050.

Eric was born May 27, 1996 in Independence, Missouri to Ernest and Diane Sylvan. Eric is survived by his parents, of the home; his paternal grandmother, Joan Greene of Kansas City, MO, maternal grandfather George “Pops” Knowles of Fort Walton Beach, FL; brother Anthony (Ida) Sylvan of Raytown MO, sisters Tiffany Sylvan of the home and Serena Alaniz of Ankeny, Iowa; nieces, Kensley Sylvan and Azari Alaniz; and nephews, Fabian and Julian Alaniz; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Our “Bud” was a loving and loyal son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, grandbaby, and friend. His smile and personality lit up a room as soon as he walked in. Eric was a Mama’s boy; he loved to be right next to her. His best friend was his Dad. He loved spending time working with his brother. He was his sisters’ biggest protector. He was Kensley’s “Unca Elmo.” Most importantly, Eric was a man of God.

His smile was brightest when he could be with his family; Sunday mornings at church; on vacations; spending time with his cousins and friends; and watching football – particularly his Kansas City Chiefs.

Eric was met in Heaven by his maternal grandmother Rhonda Knowles, paternal grandfather Donald Martin, maternal and paternal great-grandparents, and many more close relatives.

Anybody that’s a friend of My Sons is also a friend of mine. I didn’t know Eric personally but My Sons Nick and Timehin Babalola did and they loved him. His Service alone was like ushering Him into Heaven. He was definitely loved and will be missed greatly. “ He kept the Faith”

I met Eric through a close friend and he soon became like a close brother very funny and just so caring he was always checking up on me here and there and I looked forward to his text messages when he would text me saying “How you doing foo?” I’m so sad to even be writing this his family and close friends are sincerely in my thoughts as I know this is such a unexpected loss but I just want them to know he was loved by MANY ❤️ Rest easy Eric

So shock and sad to be writing this about you, Eric. Such a young life and so much to live, I will always remember the ride you game me to my house, when I left my cars keys and even though you knew it would make you be late for your first job, you didn't hesitate and were the first one to volunteer and take me home, thanks so much bud. I enjoyed having you as a co-worker at AT&T and really missed you after you left, you go know and have fun in heaven, cause I know everyone up there is enjoying your company from now on...

Glad I got to know you over the past few years at Frito Lay. Always remember our last talk about your fishing trip with your brother and working together on your birthday. You had such love and respect for your Mother and Father. I think every conversation I had with u, your parents got brought up. See ya again bro! Craig Johnson
